Multisport: kilometre zero of a summer full of extraordinary moments

Fifty days before the event, the municipal balcony is personalised with the image of the triathlete parrot.

Pontevedra celebrated this morning a symbolic act that marks the 50-day countdown to the inauguration of the 2025 World Triathlon Multisport Championships 2025. The event will be, in the words of the mayor, ‘kilometre zero of a summer full of extraordinary moments’, in reference to other events that will be held later on.

The main balcony of the Casa Consistorial will remain these two months personalised with the most significant symbols of the campaign, accompanied by a silhouette of the parrot Ravachol, the work of the illustrator from Pontevedra, David Campos, who has been accompanying the sporting event for years and serving as a graphic support.

‘The Multisport will bring, for nine days, between three and four thousand athletes from more than 50 countries, accompanied by as many people and will put all their energy both in the competition and in urban life: in shopping, lunch, catering ... and not only Pontevedra, but all the Rías Baixas,’ said Fernández Lores before numerous councillors of the Corporation who supported him in the act.

Lores thanked the municipal staff, the staff of the Federations and the rest of the people who work directly in the event for their involvement, without forgetting the large number of volunteers who are joining the organisation, both individually and from neighbourhood, social or sports organisations, as well as the already classic institutions such as the Brilat, the Prison of A Lama, the Juan XXIII educational centre, among many others.

He also reminded that there is still room for ‘anyone who wants to join as a volunteer’, as the World Championships involves 9 days of races and a very complex logistics that requires the strength of everyone.

He also made reference to the musical party that is being programmed and that will be presented shortly, ‘in which we will have a very special closing ceremony: “Captain” Javi Gómez Noya, our ambassador, will not only be next to the races, but also on stage, leading an unforgettable collective celebration’.
