Be a volunteer and make possible the Pontevedra World Triathlon Championships Finals

The most important event in world triathlon, the Pontevedra World Series Grand Final, will have more than 500 volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the event, which will take place in the Galician city from 20 to 24 September. "They will be the people from Pontevedra who are closest to the athletes, so for us the importance of the volunteers is paramount," said Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, mayor of Pontevedra, who presented the communication campaign, which will try to reach the citizens through the usual channels of the city council of Pontevedra, the federations, FETRI and the Galician federation, social networks and the media under the slogan "Lend them your hands, become a volunteer".

The head of the Pontevedra Volunteer Office, Miguel Balea, said that the technical direction of the event requested a total of 544 collaboration positions, positions that do not have to coincide with the number of volunteers, as each of them can attend to several positions in different shifts. Balea thanked the many entities collaborating with the Office for their involvement.

He specifically mentioned the Brilat, the Naval School or the prison of A Lama and also highlighted the many entities inside and outside the municipality of Pontevedra that provide volunteers. He also mentioned the Instituto Portugués do Desporto e a Juventude for their usual collaboration in these organisational tasks.

The organisation of the Grand Final of the World Series foresees that the more than 500 positions throughout the four days of the World Championship will be filled by people who like some aspect of the different areas of work foreseen for volunteers: secretariat and accreditations, support to the race direction, protocol and ceremonies, communication and press, as well as logistics.

The Pontevedra World Series Grand Final will be the culmination of a historic year for Spanish triathlon, as Spain will also host the Ibiza 2023 Multisport World Championships from 29 April to 7 May and the European Championships in Madrid from 2 to 4 June.
