2025 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Pontevedra achieves gold in Sustainability

The event has received the gold certificate awarded by “World Triathlon” thanks to its strategic sustainability plan.

Multisport Pontevedra has achieved the gold certificate of sustainability awarded by the International Triathlon Federation, “World Triathlon”. This award has been possible thanks to the actions that the Organising Committee is implementing and will implement in the event, which will take place in the Galician city from 20 to 29 June, a championship promoted by its main sponsor, the City Council of Pontevedra, the Provincial Council of Pontevedra and the Xunta de Galicia.

This strategic plan integrates:

• Social criteria, guaranteeing universal accessibility, equal opportunities and inclusion.
• Economic criteria, promoting efficiency in the use of resources, responsible consumption and the reduction of emissions.
• Environmental criteria, minimising the impact on climate, ecosystems and biodiversity.

and has the following objectives:

• Combat climate change.
• Reduce the water and ecological footprint.
• Apply circular economy principles: redesign, rethink, reduce, reuse, repair and recycle.
• Promote responsible consumption and strengthen the local economy.
• Promote health and social integration through sport.
